Project Idea :

A Young Mums Group in Whitfield, Dundee was being supported by my colleague, Amanda Lowson of Dundee REP Theatre to explore the issues affecting them by using drama and performance. I was so touched by the candidness of the mums that I suggested to them we make a documentary about being a young mum. Here we are.

Young Anes is a short documentary featuring a group of Young Mum's living in Dundee's Whitfield housing scheme. Whitfield, although the focus of recent community regeneration still has, according to the Young Mums, many problems.

The film sets out to touch upon such issues as: teenage pregnancy; poor housing; life as a young mum and life in Whitfield.

Delegates at the 2006 Edinburgh International Film Festival can view the film at an industry screening on Thursday 17th August at 9.30 and then there is a Premiere which everyone can attend on Saturday 19th August at 1pm in the filmhouse in Edinburgh. Tickets are available here!
